Project: PNW4WDA Riley Ranch Cleanup and Trail Maintenance Project
Location: Oregon
Description: The Riley Ranch Cleanup and Trail Maintenance Project brought together approximately 91 volunteers from Pacific Northwest Four Wheel Drive Association (PNW4WDA) clubs throughout Oregon to improve trails, campground facilities, and recreation areas while promoting responsible outdoor recreation and public land stewardship.
Volunteers traveled from communities across Oregon, including Portland, Salem, Corvallis, Albany, Springfield, Roseburg, Brookings, Bend, Prineville, La Pine, Klamath Falls, Coos Bay, Reedsport, and Coquille. Participating clubs included Willamette Valley Wheelers, X-Treme 4×4, Oregon Coast 4×4, Umpqua Valley Timber Cruisers, Diamond Cruisers 4-Wheelers (DC4W), Klamath Hi-Lo Runners, Rev Limiters, Timber Cruisers, and independent volunteers.
Throughout the project, volunteers dedicated approximately three hours each to litter removal, campground cleanup, trail maintenance, vegetation management, and general improvements across the Riley Ranch recreation area. Their combined efforts totaled 273 volunteer hours, significantly improving the condition of the trails and campground facilities.
One of the project’s greatest accomplishments was the removal of illegal dumping and accumulated debris. Volunteers collected enough trash to completely fill two large dumpsters, helping restore the recreation area and protect public lands for future visitors.
The project demonstrated the dedication of Oregon’s off-road community, with volunteers traveling from across the state to work together in support of public land stewardship. Their efforts strengthened relationships between local clubs, promoted responsible recreation, and reinforced the importance of keeping trails and public lands healthy and accessible for future generations.
Thank you to the partner who made this possible:
· Pacific Northwest Four Wheel Drive Association (PNW4WDA) and participating clubs
